Susie's Stuffed Shells
Stuffed shells with sauteed spinach, Italian sausage, and creamy marinara!
Ingredients:
1 box jumbo pasta shells
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ pound Italian sausage (casings removed)
½ pound ground beef
2 cups chopped fresh spinach
1 cup ricotta cheese
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 egg
1 jar marinara sauce
¼ cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon Aw Sh!t seasoning
½ teaspoon Does Steak seasoning
Freshly ground salt & pepper (even better if it comes from the Finamill!)
Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Cook the shells- Cook the jumbo shells according to the package directions until al dente. Drain, rinse with cool water, and set aside.
Make the filling- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and ground beef. Cook until brown and drain excess fat. Stir in chopped spinach and sauté for 2-3 minutes until wilted. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Mix it up- Add ricotta, parmesan, and the egg. Add the Aw Sh!t seasoning, Does Steak seasoning, and Finamill ground salt and pepper.
Make the sauce- Warm a jar of marinara sauce in a small saucepan. Stir in the heavy cream for a smooth, creamy twist on traditional stuffed shells!
Stuff and bake- Stuff each shell with the cheese mixture and place them in a baking dish of your choice. (I used an 8×8 Courtly Check pan from Mackenzie Childs) Cover your shells with the sauce and bake in the oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Once heated all the way through, top with fresh basil for a pop of color! Enjoy hot!
This pairs perfectly with the a salad using the Pasta House Salad Dressing! You can even use the Pasta House Spaghetti Sauce in this recipe!
